MAC Opens Phase I Clinic in the Manchester Corridor

MAC Clinical Research has opened a new phase I/IIa clinic at Citylabs in Manchester, expanding its phase I services in the United Kingdom. This brand new facility is located on Oxford Road within the Manchester Royal Infirmary campus, part of Manchester’s growing ‘Corridor’ (view pdf of Strategic Vision to 2025). The clinic will be a Centre of Excellence for neuroscience and translational medicine and will facilitate patient access helping to expedite progression to proof-of-concept (PoC) for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and CRO industries seeking access to broad patient demographics.

The new research centre will complement MAC’s existing clinical facilities based in Leeds, Cannock and Blackpool. The 42-bed clinic will be at the heart of England’s North West, one of the UK’s top three biomedical clusters and will focus on complex studies including first-in-human phase I, phase I in-patient and multifaceted phase I trials such as drug-drug interactions. MAC’s collaboration with the Central Manchester University Hospitals Foundation Trust (CMTF), allows sponsors access to expertise with academic and medical communities of this network and has access to the facilities of the other NHS members including latest imaging technology and the University of Manchester. MAC is continuing to build on its established links with key clinical researchers and clinical research networks. Under one roof MAC can access latest imaging technology - MRI (1.5 and 3 T MRIs), CT scans, X ray, ultrasound, nuclear medicine with two gamma cameras as well as modern clinical laboratory facilities to determine full range of safety lab measurements on-site.
