Trailblazers Among Us
This year the theme is The Trailblazers Among Us, in celebration of modern-day trailblazers: clinical research professionals. They are the people who push the advancement of human health, and their dedication is what makes medical breakthroughs possible.
We are proud to be part of this industry with many of our own clinical research trailblazers. Innovation has been key to MAC from the very beginning having established one of the UK’s first-ever memory clinics in 1988.
Our memory clinics have helped many people get the support they need, including diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. They have also been key in supporting our research, providing invaluable access to patients and volunteers for dementia, which we have conducted many clinical studies in. We are committed to continuing this research to help improve the lives of patients and their families living with such a debilitating disease.
Our Memory Assessment Research Clinics are still at the heart of MAC today and something we continue to offer as a free service in our community.
Our clinical research professionals: pioneers in research
At MAC, our team of experts lead the way in many aspects of clinical research, including the implementation of our unique scientific techniques and assessments to help ensure the efficacy of drugs early in development as well as provide first-class training in overcoming the placebo response.
We have also gained expertise in conducting psychedelic studies, which has garnered attention in recent years for their potential to treat an array of mental health conditions. We are proud to be the first clinical research company to not only administer high doses of psychedelics but also the first to dose Ibogaine in a clinical environment in the UK, along with the first to dose 50mg of Psilocybin as well as Deuterated DMT (IV/IM). Our bespoke facilities include psychedelic treatment rooms and a state-of-the-art sleep laboratory, for ensuring the optimum environment for both psychedelic and sleep studies.
It is important to recognise that behind every breakthrough and every milestone, there are the people who make it possible – the participants and clinical research employees – whose passion and commitment drive progress. As we look to the future, let’s continue to celebrate and support these trailblazers, for they are the pioneers of change.
