Senior Proposals Manager

What is it like to work at MAC?
-
You are only a few people away from the CEO of the company and therefore business critical decisions are not layered up in a tricky authorisation route like larger companies.
-
Friendly “open-door” policy off all managers and senior management
-
Collaborative approach to all tasks within direct team and wider MAC community involved in proposals/projects
-
Willingness for management to allow you to undertake your job unhindered (no unnecessary approvals, review stages etc., just the relevant ones!)
-
Ease of getting in touch with IT for issues and resolutions (believe me not having to call a call centre on the other side of the world is mind blowing!)
-
Your voice is heard, and your ideas are listened to/implemented
Can you comment on the company culture?
The culture is one of friendliness, helpfulness, “get the job done” attitude with some fun along the way. Senior management seem to have a good handle of getting employees across MAC to collaborate and communicate.
What do you like about your job?
-
Flexibility (which allows for the challenges with raising small children)
-
Teamwork and collaborative approaches on ALL projects
-
Willingness of others to learn and help
-
Values input from your experiences in past positions
-
Approachable senior management structure and ethos
What are the challenges?
MAC does not offer the same benefits as other companies across the industry (e.g. death in service, comparable pension, sick pay etc.) and this is a challenge when A.) trying to attract good candidates and B.) from a personal perspective, this was a total shock when I actually read the employee handbook within the first weeks of starting with MAC and realising that all these things were either not included or below par with what is industry standard.
I know these are aspects that MAC is looking to rectify in the future, but they should not underestimate the importance of these benefits to people looking to join MAC or existing happy employees. Having to factor in life insurance, better pension, sickness benefit costs into your monthly outgoings and should not be a factor in your decision to join MAC or stay with MAC – this totally detracts from the wonderful work MAC is doing and the happy work environment is has worked hard to foster.
